1. Barabarti Fort – This well-known fort was constructed in the 14th century by the Ganga dynasty rulers. This fort has a special place in history and is the most visited during the winter season. You will be stunned to see that it still looks incredible and is standing strong even after so many years.
- Kataka Chandi Temple – The Cuttack Temple or the Kataka Chandi Temple are quite well-known in the city. They are dedicated to Deity Chandika and this temple is situated on the banks of River Mahanadi. If you want to visit the temple when it is in its best time then go during the Kali Puja, Dussehra or Durga Puja. The area lights up and prayers are chanted plus you will see people all dressed up waiting to pray to the idols.
- Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary – If you love animals that are endangered, then you will have a gala time visiting the attractive and popular Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is spread on the total area of about 670 sq. kilometres. The Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary is a home to a number of different species like white crocodile, huge saltwater crocodiles, the Indian Python, Black Ibis, Cobra, Olive Ridley Turtles, Chital, Monitor Lizards and so many other animals. Avoid visiting this place during the summer because it is very hot and humid. The best time to come here is during the months from October to December.
- Netaji Birth Place Museum – This former ancestral house of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is now a museum. In the year 2007, this place was renovated and is now a gorgeous historic museum, which has several photographs and antiquities from the life of Mr. Bose. You can also see a lot of different furniture which was used by Netaji and his family.
- Kadam Rasool Mosque –The Kadam Rasool Mosque was founded in the 18th century and it contains the footprints of Prophet Mohammed. The mosque is spread around an area of about 57 acres. It is a sacred place for all the Muslims in the country due to the foot prints. The architecture of this mosque is very unique and old school. It is heard that this mosque was constructed by a Hindu King.
Cuttack is a small and gorgeous city. If you are travelling from Delhi then take a train to Kolkata Howrah Junction and from there you will get a train directly to Cuttack. Make sure you call for delivery of food in trains for your journey.
