Diabetes is a common condition these days but can be managed if you change your lifestyle. That can be done if you take care of your nutrition as well as include traditional healing methods like yoga, pranayam and mantras in your life.
Chanting Mantras: Chant the word Om, thrice early morning and before going to the bed daily. While chanting, focus on the mantra’s three components: A, U and M.These components affect the heart charka, throat charka and the crown charka.
Yog Asana: For diabetics, the important asans are pashchimottan asan (the forward bend), Surya namaskar (the sun salute), shalabh asan, bhujang asan and gomukh asan.The interesting aspect of yoga sans is that they affect the glands in some way. The endocrinal glands are important hormone secreting glands that control the whole body.
Pranayam: Pranayam help calm and stabilize the nerves. The bhasrika pranayam is good for diabetics because it helps the body release stress.
Herbs: Because cinnamon (dalchini) helps you control blood sugar, boil a stick of cinnamon in some water and drink a glass of it everyday. Diabetics can also drink the juice of one amla or Karela mixed with lauki juice.
Walking: It is important for all diabetics to walk at least 45 minutes a day. This improves their blood sugar level.
Food: Diabetics should avoid biscuits, rusks, fried food, mangoes, and chickoos, grapes, and white rice, potatoes and fruit juices. They should eat moong sprouts, soya, black channa sprouts, soy milk and whole wheat like Dalia and all dals.
With the right food and herbs, yoga, pranayam, diabetics will go long way in improving the quality of their lives.
